The Alhambra and the Generalife

Alhambra - GranadaThe Alhambra of Granada and the Generalife are the most visited monuments in Spain and have been declared of national importance by the UNESCO World Heritage. This palace city, residence of Nazaríes, Sultans and high ranking luminaries, reaches the hill of La Sabika that majestically dominates the Darro valley The Alhambra was built between the XIII y XV centuries and gathers together all of the art and ideas of the last Moslem period in Spain within its four different areas: The Palacios, the military area or Alcazaba, the city or Medina and the Generalife gardens.

Albaicín- Sacromonte: If there is any word describing this picturesque neighbourhood of Granada, it is mystery. You will find mysterious whitewashed cave houses, built of copper and lime, alleys full of gardens with pitas and prickly pears, carnations and jasmin.

- Albaicín: World heritage, it is the most typical area of Granada, from which the essence of the city can be absorbed and is a true and loyal reflection of the Andalusí cultural heritage. The scent of the orange blossom will go with you until you reachthe Mirador de San Nicolás, where you will able to admire the wonderful views if the Alhambra.

- Alcaicería: A true re-creation of the original market where the commercial activity of the Moslem Granada was situated and that had its years of splendour in the last period of the Nazarí kingdom. At present it is been totally reconstructed and hosts many shops, jeweller’s and silversmith’s where you can find many examples of Granada’s craftmanship: ceramics, silver, basketmaking and taracea (several types of wood with inlay of bone and nacre).

- Realejo: The Jewish suburb of the Moslem Granada, known as the Realejo area, has experienced some important changes since its conception. Nowadays the many beautiful level areas and some of the outstanding monuments of Granada are worth visiting.

- Centro Cultural Manuel de Falla: The Centro Cultural Manuel de Falla offers a varried programme of concerts and exhibitions throughout the year for lovers of the good music and art.

- The Albaizín, Moorish essence. Narrow charming alleys, gardens full of orange trees in flower and whitewashed houses that will take you to a world of times long gone. - Parque de las Ciencias. The main basic principles of the Granada’s Parque de las Ciencias are that science has to be within everybody’s reach, knowledge that has to be experienced and participated in by the visitor.
